It is illegal to carry a hammer or a screwdriver in Canada?
I ask because I walk my dog late at night in a dangerous part of the town where I live and thugs who met from time to time. This is simply a protection of last resort if something happens to threaten me.
I think a more rational strategy would be to walk your dog late at night in an area that you know is dangerous. If you have a screwdriver or a hammer with you, and you encounter a "thug" and feel the need to draw your weapon, you take a chance that not going to beat either the crap out of you, or draw his own weapon that could be a gun or knife. Generally a "rogue" is not going to be particularly afraid of someone like you walk a small dog pulling a screwdriver on them. They are probably quite used violence if they are used to spending long periods of time hanging around in dangerous areas at night. The best thing would happen if such an altercation take place is you leave your dog, and they fled. The only problem is when they are on the lookout for you a few days later with their friends, they come armed and seriously injure yourself.
