Brush or roller?
I'm decorating for the first time. What is the best to start with? Brush or roller? Advice would be very useful.
the "tip" with the cutting (up to an edge) is a fairly well loaded brush, then lightly press the surface you want to paint, the brush will be rounded a little, you control the flare to go where you want. First, fill the crack (If any) between the ceiling and the wall, smooth with your finger. So do the edges of the ceiling with a large brush (the practice of cutting into your skill sets, a little paint on the wall is no question now), then most of the ceiling with a roller, fairly busy, DONT skimp too little paint the roller and it will spray you! 3 coats of matt emulsion on the ceiling next, do your woodworking, Rubdown, sandpaper on the wool, flat moldings. Get all the bits Nibby little further. Touch primer on bare wood, Rubdown light. Then, two sub-layers with a brush and two coats shiny by rubbing between the layers. Now your walls, substantially the same as the ceiling, the edges with a brush (you have to learn to cut in?) The logic here is that if you get one of your emulsion paint on your wall, it comes off with a damp cloth before sunset. Cleaning rollers best ... in bath of soapy water. Ditto for emulsion brush. brush your coat of undercoat /, Do not worry about turpentine / white spirit, use brush restorer, it makes the water soluble paint, wash with soap and water, let dry, fine dry brush to clean next layer. With brushes that you get what you pay "Nice thick brush is good (see the cheapies !!!!)
