Easiest way to remove the calcium buildup on my tank and its accessories in plastic?
Meaning hood, filter, etc.. What is the easiest way? I heard the vinegar, but I have nothing but cider vinegar. Is this good? I also heard of using a razor blade but I do not trust that because of "bands" of moisture .. I also like the lemon juice, Mr. Clean Magic erasers (original, no chemicals) on hand .. Before starting, which is easier?
I have hard water where I live and we still had deposits of lime in our tanks and our equipment too. I used to make a paste from vinegar and salt and wash the tank with it. If lime build was hard then I would just let the paste sit on it for a while and is generally broke free and cleaned well. Rinse thoroughly. and those magic erasers are actually toxic if you look on the packaging. I do not know what is in them or what they are made of (possibly silica) but I know that you should not use them on everything you or your pets will eat or drink .. let alone have to live! cider vinegar is good to use. I always washed my tank on sunny days outdoors. They can get a lot of rinsing and then I let them air dry in the sun.
