What impact have been made using grocery bags fabric?

I want to see some figures is the production of bags plastic down? What would the impact on the environment be if everyone switched to reusable grocery bags and manufacturers plastic bags were to close? What carbon footprint cloth bags? How are they made? Are they not been shipped across the country that plastic bags are? What about water and energy used to launder these bags? Is still do more earth friendly than plastic? I need to use the evidence of these bags is truly environmentally friendly, and not just fashion. I am not a troll, I'm just very curious as I saw these bags everywhere and know nothing about them.

Lots of good, relevant questions. I do not know statistics and I think the answers depend in fact your personal habits. If you find groceries in plastic, then reuse as garbage bags home (instead of buying plastic liners made specifically for your garbage) then I would say that using cloth bags is a waste. cloth bags are obviously their own ecological footprint, but how it depends on many factors. How often do you wash? Where were they made? How long will you use? Do they really reduce your consumption of plastics, or are you simply buying plastic bags now? These are important things to ask if you even consider switching. Doing something because it's fashionable is very naive and short-sighted (as you already know of course). I do not think you will find accurate or even relative, answers your questions. Personally, I would just like to watch your own habits and plans, and then from there. I use cloth bags. I bought the hemp facts so they would last long. I used about 12-15 per week, every week for a couple of years and they are like new. I wash about every three or four uses, depending on their condition. I let them air dry. I do not use plastic liners for trash and do my not have to buy plastic bags in a very long time. I think they were the right choice for me, but not be for you in May.
